Program Description
Electricity program graduates enjoy a wide range of opportunities paving the way to a bright and rewarding future. The program will prepare you for installing, repairing and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.

For full-time students, it is an 1,800-hour program covering 24 competencies. With a mix of classroom theory and hands-on work, students will develop the skills to perform various roles, functions, tasks and activities, which will prepare them to progress effectively and safely on the job.

»¨ÃÛÖ±²¥app Technical Institute of Montreal prepares students to install and/or maintain electrical systems in the residential, commercial, industrial and institutional sectors. Installation work is mostly in the construction sector, where the apprenticeship regime administered by the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) applies; in other sectors, Emploi-Québec’s apprenticeship regime applies.

Electricians generally work in teams of two under the supervision of a master electrician (a member of the Corporation des maîtres-électriciens du Québec) or an electrical contractor. The work is physically demanding, can be indoors or outdoors, and may require working at heights.

 * This DVS program is eligible for student financial assistance from the Government of Quebec (excluding foreign students).
